01 4.2 oil gauge not regeristring

I just bought my boy a 2001 F150 with a 4.2. When it is cold out in the am, the oil light comes on and the gauge reads 0 for about 30 secounds then it reads fine and the light goes out. This only happens in the am. Oil looks good. It is barely broke in at 237,000 miles. How long will these engines last? Thanks

As long as you keep taking care of it could last you another 100k+. But I would start by trying a new ops and see if that doesn't fix your problem

Oil pressure switch, I'm thinking.
I need to change mine, it just started acting up a couple days ago. Of course when it's cold, that's the perfect time for working on the truck!

That "OPS" is a dummy switch. I would at least hook up an actual gauge to the engine and eliminate everything but a lazy switch first.

That could be a costly oversight you know...
