Brake light on dash console is not working properly

Hey guys,

When I start up the 97 F150 Lariat 4x4 4.6L, all the lights including the brake sign comes up and goes away properly. But the brake sign doesn't come on when I put on the parking brake.

I also noticed that for a week prior to this, I noticed that the brake signal was on when I was driving. I never use the parking brakes so I just had to release the parking brake to have the parking signal go away even though there was no load on the parking brake. I thought that I may have just bumped the parking brake lever when I was getting in the truck.

Any guidance will help guys.

There is a switch that powers the dash lamp when off normal.
Check it out.

Would this switch control turning on and off of just the brake signal or all the other warning lights?

EMG switch does not control any other lights.
Get under the dash and look at the EMG brake hardware and see where the switch is and if it's actuator is to far away from the contact point allowing it ti turn on the light when the EMG is fully released.
