Weird idea

Hey guys,

Here's a crazy idea, let's see who can help... I have a 2004 f150 extended cab flare side 4x4 with a 5 speed manual. I know of one other v8 ford ext cab with a five speed...regardless this is my baby. I had an idea to rebuild and beef up the engine, rebuild the tranny and restore the truck with new interior, paint, tires, shocks, etc. I had another idea. I want to put a super crew cab on my extended cab pickup. I know I would have to replace the bed with a super crew bed but so what. I would have A five speed manual with a super crew, more room for my son due in feb. Anyone know if the extended cab frame would accept the super crew cab and bed? They sure look similar but I want to know as much as I can before I start. Obviously this is a big undertaking but I can do pretty much anything mechanically, just need your expertise and any advice. Thank you very much!

Dave

I know that the supercrew is longer by about 5 inches but the wheel base is the same.

Why not just trade it for a supercrew... Your that hung up on the 5 speed?

Cost wise, you could buy a new truck. Hey, if you got money to throw around... Throw me some

I said I could do pretty much anything mechanically not FINANCIALLY. It's not that I'm super hung up on the 5 speed. I'm more into the challenge and tackling a project with my favorite truck.

Heritage scab and screw frames are identical, not sure about shared body mounts.

This is an 04 XLT. I'm not sure about the heritage part... I know the 04s changed for the 1/2 ton, but maybe not for the 3/4 or 1 ton pickups. It's the "newer" body style for the 150s in 2004.

He lengthened the frame....that sounds intense

If you have a 2004 Scab with a manual transmission, that's an old body style Heritage. There's no way you are going to put a new body style Screw body on that frame. You may be able to drop a 2001-2003 Screw body on it.
