Lately, when I apply my emergency brake overnight, I notice a 6" diameter puddle on my driveway. When I do not apply my emergency brake over night, I do not see any fluid on my driveway.

So my question is what is this fluid and it's relation to my emergency brake? Does the emergency brake operate on fluid? Again, the fluid is clear and I have smelled this smell before but I cannot identify it. It is not very thick either.

 

Do you have rear drums or disc brakes?

Can you see it dripping from the brakes?

 

Is your brake fluid low?
