shift indicator trouble?

shift indicator trouble?

I have a 2002 f150 and just replaced the heater core FOR the SECOND TIME Oh boy what fun that is .... any way ever since the first time i did it the shifter works but the needle in the window says N (neutral) when in reverse and 2 when im obviously in Drive.... how do you adjust or fix this slightly annoying problem? any help would be greatly apreciated.... thank you

thanks a lot that was easier than i thought
i remember taking that little thing it is called the transmission range indicator cable I think.....( I feell like one of those drooling vegetables you meet behind the parts counter ..... you know the guy ..... that you just told the name of said part you seek and he just stares at ya blankly and drools......)off when dropping the column before pulling the dash back ....... i did nt think it moved that much but apparently it did
welp pizza is here and then time for road test thanks again to bluejay for pointing me in the correct direction
