Installed factory cruise on my '02 XL, and it works!
So, I've asked about a million questions on this forum, and thankfully, you guys have always been a huge help. I felt I should share this about my cruise control, as I've asked a ton about it, and others have had questions in those same threads.
That said, I was told I needed a new steering wheel, clockspring, cruise switches, servo, and master cylinder with the plug on the end of the canister. I was able to find all these parts from local junkyards. Thank the Lord for Expeditions, because they are far more plentiful around here than F150's. AND, it wasn't that expensive.
Steering wheel - $10
Cruise switches - $8
Clockspring - $10
Servo - $20
Master cylinder - $35
I was most nervous about a junkyard master cylinder, but for some reason, on the '02's, the brake line input sizes are different than the 99-01. The master cylinder from Napa that was listed for '02 was still the incorrect size. Took me forever to find the right one, but I did find one.
So after I installed the master cylinder and bled the brakes, I put the servo in. Was completely prepared to have to go to the dealer to get my PCM reprogrammed to allow cruise, but I figured I'd take it for a test drive, you know, just to see if it would work. And lo and behold, my cruise worked, and I even have the cruise light on my cluster!
All in all, it cost me under $100. Quite a bit of time searching for parts, but it was worth it. Also, I had NO experience doing any of these replacements, so it is possible for amateurs to make this happen.
Just felt I should share, and hopefully help others if needed.
I also did the Expy seat swap for my bench. Should probably post pics of that sometime, too.

Good job and inspring me to do the same! I'm in process of sourcing parts for my 2003 XL. I got L steering wheel and clockspring installed already. Servo is in order.
Need to figure out what is the exact part # for master cylinder and deactivation switch.
Ford parts list shows Speed sensor (F65Z 9E731 AB) as cruise control component. Did you install this or is this already in the vehicle?
