Can these be removed?

2003, 7700, 5.4, 4x4, auto, reg cab, XL

I want to remove the black plastic fender guards, but is the fender specially designed for these? Does the fender have an indent or depression to allow for the guard, or is this fender the same as a truck without fender guards? I know there a a couple holes in the fender I would have to weld a piece into, and then paint and such but thats ok.

I think they make the truck look a little 'gumby', and this truck will never see gravel. Probably a stupid question, but any response is appreciated.

Thx

yes, there are several mounting holes that you would have to fill in.

More than several... like 6 significant holes in the fender. I don't remember how many holes when I took mine off to re-paint..... but there was quite a few. Pop one off and take a look. If you decide against it, no big deal to re-install.

Thx for the reply.

Would you recommend patching with sheet metal, or would glass be ok? I would patch from behind of'course, then fill/smooth from the front.

Not sure if I should have this thread in the Body forum. If I am breaking the rules, someone let me know. Thx

Just paint them the same color as the truck. Yea, that might cheer it up, - it's allot easier to do vs pulling, filling, (I'd mig the holes closed, just fill them w/weld),painting , blending it in.... Yea, just paint them, trust me

Was that the factory color ? Nice truck!

This is how they are spaced. I just haven't drilled new holes yet in the pic(replaced lower bed panels), but they're spaced like that all the way around.

Paint them and paint the front bumper pieces while you're at it

JBREW, yes, factory color - no accidents. Painting actually looks like a good option. Also, yes given the size of the holes definately mig. Thx for the suggessions.

Thx for the compliment on my truck! It's my dream truck (7700GWV, reg cab) and I flew all the way to Montana one-way to drive it home.

I'll consider the options and post some pics when I start the work.

Pics:

1. Plane I flew in to get my new truck
2. Glacier Nat'l Park: Driving back home to Minnesota (drove 45 miles in 4H over the pass!!)
