13 miles to the gallon
Intakes and mufflers do nothing for mileage. A good/true wheel alignment helps.
I'm on top of maintenance, sensors are updated, ported and polished the intake. I also keep the valves clean (via Motorvac) and run Denso plugs in my 4x4 5.4L. I only average 16 mpg. High miles @ 279,000. So your not that far out. The 4six and 5four get about the same MPG. The 5fours being a little better.
well Im guessing you are 4x4 maybe you could run a little bit skinnier of a tire. What tires are you running now? As anyone else will tell you you may have to make some sacrifices to get better mpg. You may not have to get a smaller tire size as far as height but a skinnier tire will help
How much more do your 20"s (wheel and tire) weigh more than the setup you took off. How much wider is the tread?
(fix the egr/cel)
I get 10 with 5.4 4x4 with 20"s. Had a few tanks of around 12.5 on the stock 17"s

Ouch! My 03 4x4 (5.4L auto) with 35s gets 15-17 mpg depending on tire pressure and my 03 2x4 (4.2L 5 spd) with factory wheels/tires gets 18+ with a bad alignment and a 28ft ladder on top. Take it to a shop and at least let them run a diagnostic. The longer you wait the worse it will get.
My son in law has a 98 4x4 with a 4.6 and he's getting about 12 mpg, he has a P0401 code which is *probably* plugged EGR passages in the throttle body. Before he got the CEL, he was getting about 15.
p1409 is the code
