Ignition Coils

Hey everyone I have a 02 with the 5.4. I was changing the COPS and noticed the boots were wet. Has any one else come across this problem and what was it. I'm hoping its not a bad head gasket not really seing how that could be it. There is no coolant in the oil.

What do you mean wet ? All had a certain amount of moisture outside, - like the boot bottoms? What?

Have you washed your engine in the last 6 months ? Need more info.

On cylinders # 3, and 5 on the bottom half of the boot there was moisture. I have not washed the engine. the reason I noticed it I was getting a misfire code for cylinders # 2, and 3. I changed the plugs about 4 months ago but not the coils. Now the truck is running good but have not put any real miles on it.

If it's water and NOT coolant, it can be caused by a hood seal leak, -passenger side.

Drivers side. You must be missing your lower wheel well inserts (inner splash guards). Those can and do fall off over time, then the engine compartment takes a hit (misted) every-time it rains.

Nothing else I can think of unless there's a body lift involved. You could also be missing splash guards under the front end below the radiator.

Somethings missing or modified, -unless your truck goes into deep freeze every night and thawed by day.

They don't like the water, the coils should have plenty of dielectric grease protection.
