Starter help

Hey I'm new to posting on forums (this is my first time) but I've read them a lot and they have always helped until now. I've got a 2000 Ford F150 V8 5.6L truck and the starter is shot. I've got the new one already, and I have the old one unplugged and unbolted, but it's not coming off the truck for the life of me. I did find a fourth bolt near the top that sucks a butt to get to. I couldn't see it, I just felt around for it. I got a ratchet on it though, but couldn't twist it. Do I need to get that fourth bolt off? Or do I need to hit it with something? Any help will be much appreciated, especially because I'm already an hour late for work.

try reinstalling like two of the bolts you took out. then see if you can get the 4th bolt you found out or loose.

There is a bolt up on top that you cant see you find it by touch.. Its pretty hard to get to.. look at your new starter and you can see where it is.. and yes it comes off or the starter does not.

Yes you surely have to get that top bolt out, and yes it can be a pain in the butt.

Another yes, you definitely need to remove that bolt on top. It's a 12 or 13mm, think it's a 13..

Thanks everybody. I've got someone coming over later to give me a hand with it. I'll let you know how it turns out.
