p1451 evap code
p1451 evap code
I have a code p1451, and have checked selenoid-good (60ohms and getn voltage), replaced everything with EVAP system, and am STUUCK at this point. I keep trying something n resetting PCM and code. Think I need a new PCM? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You put a great deal of effort and expense in replacing parts.
You should have looked up the code to see what it tells you, then work only on that basis.
The 1451 code involves the Canister vent function only.
Electrical failure; circuit open, shorted to ground, faulty solenoid vent, then last, the PCM.
A dealer can use their test equipment to command these operations and see the result of the command for a decision on the cause.
You can only test the circuit for power, crosses, shorts or grounds before replacing any parts.
Wished it were easier.
Good luck.

My Expy was going over pressure on the fuel tank awhile back. Took the valve that vents to atmosphere from the cannister (don't remember it's name right now) and very carefully pulled it apart. There is a small very fine screen in there that was clogged. Cleaned it, put it back together and cleared the code. Haven't had a problem since.
The smog tec where I have my vehicles tested also told me that there is a certian spider that likes to nest in there and will clog them too.
Hope that helps a little. Sorry I can't remember what the exact code was either. Must be gettin part-timer's or something.

Thanks for the replys, but I've tried all of that except cleaning that screen. I will try that n letya know what happens? My mechanic buddy is bring his professional code scanner over today to see what else we can find? Cant trust the "cheapo's" from auto parts stores! LOL
I've tested all circuits, wires, and pretty much everything electrical pertaining to the EVAP system. I'll try replacing the canister and vent valve now, then it would only have to be the PCM? Thanks for your help, and any other ideas would be awesome! Thanks again
True, but I couldn't remember the exact code that I had and the symptoms sounded simular.

So what did you do to fix it? I'm gonna check the MAF sensor and EGR today. I guess they will make it run like crap like it is, but not with an EVAP problem it wont or shouldn't? I'm stumped! The truck is sputtering when idling and low rpms. Seems when u give it gas it'l kick in n run lil better? IDK what else to do? Any ideas?

Not sure if this will fix your issue but it's worth a try. Remember my issue was over pressure of the fuel tank, so this fix might not be what you are after. If the code is reading an electrical issue it won't be caused by this "mechanical" problem.
Anyhoo Good luck. Sorry I didn't post back sooner.....had my daughter's wedding to go to.
