2009 and up 9.75 rear locking diff in a 2002 9.75 housing?
Posted this idea in the other powertrain with no feedback. Maybe here?
I have a 2002 f150 screw with the 9.75 differential. I was wondering if anyone knows if the 2009 and up 9.75 electronic locking differential will fit in the 2002 f150 9.75 housing and still use the 2002 34 spline axles? I really want a electronic locking diff for my 02. I had an automatic in my other 2002 but i didn't really like it. The only locker I know of for the 9.75 is the ARB air locker. So I was thinking I could just go and try to find a wrecked 09 and up FX4 and see if it will fit. I just don't want to spend the money to find out it does not work. Any help with this idea would be awesome! Or does anyone know how to talk to a ford engineer and get there input?

It should, but I can't confirm. Bigger question is why do you want a locker?? A locker is great if you do some serious off roadnig AND know how to use it. For 97% of us, a good LS is far superior for the daily activity a 4WD truck is exposed to.
I really want a locker cause I am moving to San Diego after I finish up my orders in Guam. I plan on pulling a boat about every weekend in the summer and I want it for the slippery ramp. I am also going to be visiting glamis ca very often in the winter and a locker in the sand makes a huge difference! The only thing I'm afraid of is that the bearing tolerances will be different.
