Theoretical Engine Swap.
So I was looking at some mustang sites today and found that they offer trannys complete with standalone controllers for retrofitting the new Coyote 5.0.
4r70w with controller rated to 650 RWHP $3900 dollars.
So since the trann mates up then wouldnt the engine just be a bolt in... I assume the Engine mounts MAY be similar....
I mean who wouldnt want a 7000RPM screamer in there truck? and the exhaust note is amazing.

Well I would be looking at about that doing a forged 5.4 build.
Its and idea and I think if you can get the engine cheap enough, in a few years it will be a viable swap. I don't think you will need the tranny, the controller and the harness but a decent stall torque converter, and valve body and the 5.0 you have a reliable F-150 that should be capable of decent mileage and be pretty quick and reliable.
The essence of hot rodding taking the newer better engine and put it in the lighter older chassis.

You'd have to be really good with electrical because of the data systems being used. You would need to go to a Big Stuff 3 or something similar to control the engine. I'm doing a diesel conversion. Its easier and really only requires 3 wires to make it run..

not necessarily, ford makes a stand alone ecu and harness to put a 5.0 into anything you want. super easy to do, now this guy also found a stand alone computer to put a 4r70w in anything you want using the stand alone computer it comes with. so after buying a crate engine and trans get the 2 stand alone computers and you can have a 5.0 4r70 in anything you want and just about anyone could wire it up. now nothing in the cab would work but hey thats the minor details....
