Want to lift a 2wd f150
Want to lift a 2wd f150
I have a 2001 f150 lariat super crew 2wd and would like to lift it and put on new wheels with bigger tires. I am not trying to make it a monster truck I just want to give it a new stance lifted and put on wider and bigger tires. Is this a waste? Am I going to lose alot of horsepower if so,are there any ways to gain that horsepower loss back?
Also any suggestions on wheels and tires and sizes?
All help is appreciated thanks

Lots of us have lifted 2wd's on here, including myself. The it's a waste question is up to you, it's your money and truck if you want it bigger do it, if not save your money for something else.
Here's a list of options for lift with some tire sizes:
1. Coil spring spacer (1-2" of lift) 31 to maybe a narrow 33" depending on size of lift
2. Lift Coil springs (2-3" however anything over 2" requires aftermarket control arms) 33" tire
3. Spindle lift (3-3.5" depending on brand) 33" tire
4. Spindle + coils or spacer (5-6.5" depending on combo) 35" tire
*Rough country, springtech, canuck motorsports, doestch, and a few other companies make lifts in this size
5. Fabtech 7.5 (7.5" of lift) 35" tire
6. Body lift (3") 33" tire
If you wanna go bigger than a 35" tire, you'll need at least about 8-10" to clear 37's which would require a full lift plus a body lift or there's the bulletproof 12" kit however not many recommend it and it's far from cheap.
Onto powerloss, how much you'll lose intially depends on what gear ratio you have in your axle. To check it look in the driver's door jamb find the axle code and google it. To gain power back you can get a tuner which will also fix your speedometer/odometer. Also you can regear the axle to get it as close to stock as possible.
Wheel's I'd recommend nothing wider than 9" or so with about 4.5" of backspacing.
