2003 F150 AC issues!

2003 F150 supercrew 4wd. Ac is blowing out of defrost vents and air is cold but nothing out of the vents. I see water on battery side of engine block from what I assume is a cracked hose. I went to local autoparts store to see about replacement hoses but they only sell the entire hose system with accumulator, is this what I should do? I am not looking to replace 1 hose to have another fail 2 days later. If I take off old hose assembely will I have to have system recharged with coolant? I'm not looking to borrow trouble if this is better left for AC tech then great but I normally do all repiars on my own as I am pretty knowledgeable with most items well except AC's and electrical. Thx for any advice.

If cold air is coming out of defrost vent, AC is working. No need to touch AC.

maybe door is stuck on defrost setting, and wont change back to vents???

There's a selinoid somewhere that operates the door, that can go bad... Cousin replaced his on his '97 when it did the same thing. Door got stuck on 1 setting.

Blend door might be broken. Major deal.. you have to tear the dash apart to fix. Ive seen its atleast an 8 hour job.. theres a chance it coud be the firewall solenoid that is vacuum operated.. defrost is the default position when they fail.

Youtube has a short cut video on accessing the blender door, I think.

The small vacuum lines behind the battery may be cracked or broken. The water you see is from condensation which is NORMAL. Do NOT open the Freon system!

jethat & glc.. That's the part I was trying to think of... I'd start there for sure... See if it's good or not.

Do you have the automatic tempertaure controls? If so, you might need to replace the o-rings in the system.. that's what happened to mine.
