Replaced my brakes and now ~ 2 months later they are squealing
I drove it a few day and the sound and shuttering have not come back, not sure what it was but seems to be gone. Also, the camper isnt a large camper, just a fiberglass shell that weights a few hundred pounds.
If it is necessary for you to replace your pads and you don't machine the rotors to provide a level, yet slightly rough surface for the pads to contact then you can almost guarantee that some noise will be present.
Not that some noise will hurt anything, but it drives me crazy for my brakes to sound worse after a brake job than before lol.
O'Reilly or Autozone turns them for 10-15 bucks...
Also, before reassembly you want to clean all the brake dust and crap off with brake cleaner, be sure to lube up the necessary moving areas that make contact, and use the Disc Brake Quiet adhesive spray.
Works every time for me, I don't even have 4 wheel disc brakes on my truck and the two in front still never squeal or grind on me.
Oh and the camper shouldn't make any difference except maybe causing them to need replacing a tiny bit sooner than without the weight there.

Front brakes
Problem is i dont do my own work and the garage doesnt put the extra effort in,as far as cleaning the crap off.But when im shown how and its on something that wont bring my life to a screeching hault ,then i will dable with it.Thats what i did when the bearings on my newly accuired 1978-Hi-Lo camper needed to be done.Everyone said just shove some grease in the bearings, theyll be fine, but since i just got the camper and the last guy that owned it .Never maintained the camper .So i wanted to take them apart and clean them out completely regrease (new grease) new seals. So this guy showed me how to do one & i did the others. The auto places around here at the time that i was doing this only had single rim seals or i would have used the double ring seal to keep everything i can out of the bearings. Before reinstalling i wire brushed all the rust & crap off and gave it a quick shot of rustolium paint, did rims both sides too.Again this i was willing to attempt because it was the camper and if i messed up it didnt interfear with my every day life.If you want it done right..Do it yourself...Right! The brakes on the 150 dont make noise but like shudder as i start comming to a stop, its the damn rotors i know it,Damn car dealers wont go for it but i did get them to pay for two of the four new BF Goodrich tires. How much do rotors go for if i do need to replace the two front ones?
Yeah if it shutters when stopping it is due to the surface of the rotors being uneven. This is generally due to them being warped, but, depending on how much thickness the rotors have left and how uneven the surface is you might can have them turned. Just take them to O'reilly and have them turn 'em, if they look too thin to them to do so then they will measure the thickness to determine if it is possible. Or, more commonly they just try and turn them until they are smooth and if the uneven spots are too deep and they end up having to take too much surface area off of them to safely use on your truck again then they will tell you that. Either way, worse case scenario is you buy new rotors so its worth a shot to see if they can machine them smooth for you. New rotors aren't even much more than having them turned usually, I have a few friends that don't even bother with turning them at because replacing them is not alot more, maybe like 30 bucks I believe. Either way, don't buy em if you can machine out the old ones and if you can't then you don't have a choice anyway so...Oh, I would get the mid grades or at least some with a lifetime warranty and you won't ever have to buy pads again. I replaced mine when I got the truck about 5 - 6 yrs ago and it was the last time I ever had to pay for pads again cause I just swap em out for new ones at O'reilly every time I do the brakes and take my rotors to them to turn...
