2000 F-150 4.6 oil light and guage

My oil light and guage recently started malfunctioning. The mechanic replaced the oil sending unit and corrected the problem. Two months later it is doing it again. Could the sending unit be bad again?

Sure.
The sender is only a switch.
The gage is not a real gage but just an indicator that the switch closed indicating a min. oil pressure only not the real pressure.

Very,-why, do you want to check out the pick-up screen? That's a good idea, but, you may have to drop the axle to do so.
Make sure nothing is leaking down there by the sender/wire. Also check the wire and connector out thoroughly. Could easily be a short.

Is it constantly showing no oil pressure, or will it work from time to time? I had a similiar problem, but my gauge would work when it wanted to, and quit when it felt like it. I had good oil pressure, just a screwey gauge. Replaced the oil pressure switch, cleaned the plug real good, put it back together and its been fine for a couple months now. May give it a shot. Also could possibly be a ribbon on the back side of the gauge cluster has become loose.
