rotted bed mounts/bed supports

hey guys i have an 01 f150 5.4l xlt 4x4 and my rear bed mounts right inside the tailgate are rough. the left side is completely rotted apart and the right side is not too far behind. the left side is so bad that i can lift up on the tailgate when it's closed and lift up the whole bed assemble a couple inches.... not good! i was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem, and some solutions for a simple fix. i'm not trying to get a new bed or anything cause it's not worth it to me. thanks guys!

I too am blessed with rotted bed supports. Did you ever find a fix for this. I have no problem pulling the bed and flipping it to replace the mounts, supports, crossmembers, or whatever there called, but I'm having trouble finding replacements. Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately not... lol. My bed is soooo rotted, the crossmembers are literally deteriorating so the only solution is to get a new bed, which may be your best bet also. Look around at junk yards by you and I'm sure you will find something. Or if you have any mechanics you go to, they can help you find beds i'm sure as well. Hope this helps!

You can make your own mounts and plate them up. I had it done in my truck, basically just reinforce the bed support cross members by re enforcing them with welding steel plates in.

I have my 1997 XL long bed having similar issue except mine is in the front. i am waiting for this summer to pull the bed and using a square tube that would fit inside the cross member and bolt it down to the frame. Right now I am spraying rust converter spray on those two areas to keep it from deteriorating any further.
