anybody have a how to tranny removal 1999

Anybody have a good write up on removing a 1999 f150 with 4 wheel drive write up. Tranny is the 4R70W automatic bolted to the 5.4 liter engine.
Trying to get the steps together and see if the torsion bars and its crossmember need to come out or if you can manuver the transfer case out around it and then just drop the transmission crossbar to get the tranny out?

Thanks

i did it on my 2000 5.4 4x4. first off, its not fun. period. make sure you have good enough, and enough jacks. we had 2 and should have had 3. and LOTS of, or about 3' of extensions to get at the top transmission bolts from the rear. sadly yes, the T-bars and crossmember have to come out. we tried to find a way around it but couldnt.

also, to make the installation easier i suggest geting 3-4 extra transmission bols and grinding the bolt end off and round them off, leave a small flat spot on either side to get grip with a crescent wrench. install a few to help guide the transmission into place. then take them out and replace with actual bolts.

i didnt do a write up, but good luck!!!

Grab your camera and a note pad ... sounds like you're just the guy to do one

When I first got my truck, I picked up a factory Ford Truck service manual on CD ... it's very useful for this type of repair.
