obx longtubes on 98 4.6
obx longtubes on 98 4.6
So the long story short is that I've got a good size hole in my exhaust right next to the drivers side flange, and tons of leaks where i removed my rear cats. I was told by a shop i would be better off to replace the manifolds, y pipe, the whole 9 yards. So i figure if im going to go through with it, why bolt on the same stock restrictive system? I would like to run OBX longtubes, resonators, and y pipe, and just be done with all the leaks and get a few horses at the same time. Ive been unable to find this full set up for a 98 4.6, but have seen in a few threads that a 99 obx set up for the 5.4 will fit on, but i will have to do something to the EGR tube? Can anybody tell me what this consists of, or if it is worth it? Any advice would be helpful.
Is it 4x4? I have a '97 4.6 w/ pacesetter LTs part number 70-2227. If you live in a cold snowy salty road kind of area then get them coated otherwise just strip off the shipping paint and use VHT header paint (what I did). I love the system although Im still on the fence about trual duals....pics are in my sig.
They worked fine on mine no problem. I have a 4x2 so Im not sure about 4x4 applications maybe someone else will jump in. I know that the OBX will not work. Search OBX headers and you'll find some nightmare threads. The 4x4 pacesetters are 70-2226. GL
I can't see why it would be any different, hopefully. The only reason i was going for the OBX is that i can get the long tubes, resonators, and y pipe in the kit for 500$, which is cheaper than the pacesetters, maggie high flows, and y pipe as far as ive been able to find. Did you do the install yourself, or bring it somewheres? Am somewhat interested in what it would cost me to have somebody else do it, as time is not very plentiful for me.
Just ordered the pacesetter longtubes(70-2226) maggie highflows(94109) pacesetter y pipe(82-1153) and original flowmaster 40 muffler si/do. Wallets hurting a little bit, but im hoping it will sound real good, esp compared to the leaky cob job coming out of my engine right now. Wish me luck
