will a 2001 tranny fit a 1999

I have a 1999 f150 with a 5.4l that has the automatic tranny 4R70W. WIll a tranny from a 2001 with a 5.4l 4R70W fit into my 1999? they are both 4 wheel drive.

post the question in the transmission section the trans experts hang out in there. I think Maybe but there might be some modifications necessary for some electronic connectors..

sure does seem to be a lot of controversy around what 4r70w tranny fits what around here and elsewhere on the internet

All cars are tough when it come to the transmissions you can swap. Every year there are minor changes that makes it tough and all cars are like that. 4R70w from one year might not be an exact swap from one year to the next even though the actual transmission is no different.. Modified to work sure you can do that-maybe..
