No dice!

I've tried everything I can to get the service engine light to come on. I need to read the code that tells me which cylinder is missfiring.
The truck is running awful. I can't get the computer to store the code. Running out of options here.

You have options, 2. Replace all coils which is around $100 or have the dealership tell which cylinder is misfiring and replace just that coil yourself, which is about the same price.

One more. -You can also swap one coil with a known good one from your old set. 8 times if necessary until you get it right.

Taking it to the dealer would mean they would tell him what the problem is exactly so in the remote chance its not a coil its an injector or what ever he would get it diagnosed.. Bring an old coil with you they'll put it in for the $100 diagnostic fee..

Chances that it's anything but a coil are slim. Since it's missing @ that particular OD load. But iduno, I think they'll charge him more than just a diagnostic to replace the coil. Even if he brings one in lol.

Can a regular mechanic figure out which cylinder or cylinders are missing or must I take it to a Ford dealer?

Anyone with the right scanner could do it. Most of your average small shops dont have them.. I'd rather have ford diagnose it right and be done..
