pump, injectors, or general maintenance?

reposting this from engine forum to see if anyone on this one might have any feedback.

It has been quite a while since I have visited. This last week I was traveling at low speed through a parking lot and when I came to the exit and stopped the engine went to a really low idle and would not run right. I popped it into neutral and tried to keep it running without a load on the motor. This went on for about 5 seconds. I decided to put it into gear and try to go. At that point I didnt have any other problems and made it to the house. Now I dont know if I am being over-critical or if I am feeling the truck not running very well. Does this sound like something obvious to any of you out there? Fuel pump or injectors?

The only part that controls idle is the IAC.
If it went closed or stuck closed for a while the idle will drop.
Even then if you used your foot throttle to give the engine air it should have run normal otherwise except for no idle.
Good luck.

thanks for the reply

I replaced the IAC about 4 years ago. This occurence seems to be a one time thing but I am concerned that it is likely to become a problem at a really inconvenient time. The IAC only gave me problems at start up and once it "unstuck" itself it ran fine. This was different in that I was driving slowly through the lot and it happened about a two count after I had come to a stop before I left the lot. Giving it gas didnt help it run normally but just exagerated the stumbling until I just put it back in drive and gave it gas.

I do have a bad habit of running the tank very low before refilling and I have been told that is not good for the pump. Just trying to get ahead of this one if it is possible. Thanks.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?
