Knock Sensor, would it do this?
Im trying to determin my problem..
My truck wouldnt start it seemed the timing was off, it ws missing and didnt seem to run on all 8cyl.
My battery died from cranking it so much so,
I disconnected my POS terminal and started to charge my battery I reconnected the battery and set the charger to 12v Start and the truck started up fine.. drove it around and seemed perfect 30 minutes later it slowly started to get rough and a bit after that I heard a missing sound again.. I parked it and now I'm back where I started..
Thanks everyone

Well, on 97 up PU trucks with 4.6/5.4 there is no knock sensor used.
Next, the ignition timing is fully under the control of the computer.
There is no distributor, no vaccum/mechanical advance.
The coils are 'timeing' fired according to the decision of the PCM at the instant in time.
My suspect is you are running lean and out of fuel for some reason.
These faults don't set a code with any speedyness because they are not being directly monitored so can't be detected except as an 'end' result.
Filter, fuel pump, lines etc is where I would look next.
The rest of it is just the results of the issue.
Use of a good Scanner to see the real time operating data is in order to get a lead on what is going on, otherwise.
Good luck.

you bet your bottom dollar there is. The only trucks that don't run them are the lightnings and supercharged harleys
