2000 f150 4x4 problem

so this is my first post here and im hopin you guys can help. I have a 2000 F150 7700 series, automatic with manual shift transfer case (stick on the floor).

my problem is it wont shift.....the shifter will not move out of 2H, its stuck dont know what to do. the dealer says it probably just needs to be lubricated because it hasnt been in 4x4 for awhile. but they wont say how or what to do to it. i dont belive the problem is in the lincage as ive sprayed that down with alot of lube and checked it out pretty thourougly so i think the linckage is fine so i dunno what to do here?

Thanks alot
Kyle.

Are you sure you just didnt break the indicator? They were common to break. When all the way up, is the truck in park or not?

Maybe you bumped the linkage when you were messing around with it. I did that when I was doing my swap. Which means you would have to put it back into park down at the linkage.

it does not go into park it's not just the indicator, and yes the shifter is pretty sloppy now.

I know your problem. Look up under your dash straight up and wiggle the shifter, there are 2 torques screws that hold the shifter to the column that like to come loose and/or fall out. The head of the bolt is facing the firewall. You will see it right away. You ever find a screw laying on your floor mat that you had no idea where it came from?
