Hi guys,
My cylinder 5 got flooded and I can see the gas coming out of the exhaust pipe.
The guy who installed the new COPs forgot to take the plastic pipe in the tube so the spring coil never touch the spark plug.
So how do I clear out the flooded engine ? Its causing misfiring to the whole engine bank 6 7 and 8.

The entire job needs to be done over. You'll probably/eventually will get contact problems to the other coils. Not using dielectric grease will cause carbon etching at the boots, then the silicon barrier breaks down leaving it susceptible to moisture. Bad contacts short the coil as well(kill it). So the initial install needs to be solid, thorough and correct when it comes to CoilOverPlug systems, or they won't last. There is a way to do it correctly.
If you need to move the vehicle, unplug the injectors @ the misfiring cylinders first.

Yea, don't run fuel into a dead hole. You can hydro-lock lock it, if a percentage fuel doesn't evac the cylinder in time. It traps, constricts cylinder volume and with that much pressure that fast, somethings gotta give. It's usually the engine.
Also, take your time working on it, - let your converters dry out some. You don't want those melting shut on yuh.

So its best I get new plugs and coils once again ? Darn thats costly!
Looks like I will have to do that and make sure its done right this time.
But thats only for the bank 5 through 8 right ?
Because bank 1-4 got clean sparks and ignition.

No, I would just clean everything up and start over. Then see what you got. Make sure your running either Motorcraft, Denso's or NGK plugs for best results.
Make sure the springs and coil blades are connected securely.
Make sure they're is enough dielectric on the plug ceramics or boots so that they mount onto the plugs correctly. You have to twist those down for proper seat.
If you do end up needing coils, you can get them cheap, like $9 apiece.

what kind of grease do I need ? Dielectric for the ceramic part of the spark plugs and on the inside.
Whats the one around the thread for better contact and lubrication too ?

Okay, I spent the whole morning till now to try to fix it. I took out all the spark plugs, all the fuel pumps, all the coils and even the throttle intake.
I found out that the two holes inside the throttle that connect to the fuel vacuum control valve were clogged up with gunk. It was so thick with gunk I had to dig for a good ten minutes while spraying carb cleaner to get through it.
So after I did all the cleaning I put the plugs and everything back in no particular order whatsoever. I switched them all around just to see if it be any different. When I started the car, it took a few cranks to get the fuel pressure up in the engine and it started. Then I noticed it was smoking from the pipe.
From what im guessing, the smoke is from the cylinders that was flooded and now firing good again. But its still as weak and running very rough so there are now other cylinders aren't firing.
What sucks is no codes coming on so I can't check on a scanner.
Im thinking of buying a new fuel pressure regulator and see if that got anything to do with its misfiring/non-working cylinders. But somewhere in the back of my mind, I really want to buy a whole new set of fuel injectors.
What do you think I should do ?

I just went ahead and order new sparkplugs, the fuel regulator, and a set of re-condition fuel injectors.
Everything for another $260.
If that wont work.... i might just give up.

venxxxxx, - I can tell your working on a 4.6L lol. But confirm that anyway and let us know what year. I'll guess at that as well, -is it an 01 4.6L ? Yea, you should always post that info anyway.

THanks for the vote of confidence. You are right. I am working on a 2000 4.6L V8. I ordered a set of OEM from HK for $100/10Coilplug , a set of re-conditioned fuel injectors from Ebay, a set of BOsche iridium 4 from ROckauto and the fuel regulator from them as well.
They probably arrive sometimes at the end of next week. Then I'll wrestle it once more.
You guys will definitely hear from me whining about it again lol.

Yea, I wouldn't use those Bosch plugs. They can't take the heat, melt and fall apart in the cylinders. The pieces usually get stuck between the valve and seat, - can make for allot damage, possibly leaving you searching for a new engine as the cheapest way out of that mess.
Like I said 7 posts back, - "Make sure your running either Motorcraft, Denso's or NGK plugs for best results." Anything else and your rolling the dice, -taking a chance of some kind of failure. You want something in there that these engines like.
