can you pull a fith wheel with a f150 supercrew. also my truck has a 5" lift w/ 35"s. i dont know if the bed is to short, or if the truck will set to high. any info is greatly apriciated. thanks Mike

 

This depends on several factors. By the sounds of the question you are presenting, you have a lot of research to do before hitching on.

-What is the length and weight of the trailer?
-What is the tow rating of your vehicle?
-Which rear end gear ratio do you have?
-Which engine do you have?

A 4X4 with a 5 inch lift will sit higher than a 2WD with a 5 inch lift. Post some specs of your truck and trailer, and some pictures would help too.

i belive the towing wight is 7900 or 8100 lbs

It can be done, but it is definitely not cheap. I wouldn't attempt it with stock gears.
I would also look into what kind of weight the stock axles will support.

 

No, the bed is too short and you don't have enough payload capacity. A half ton truck is not the right tool for the job, stick with a conventional trailer.

 

3.55's and 35's?? Life sucks for your truck right now. Those 4.56 gears are mandatory before you consider towing anything!

 

i tow all the time with it. the most with this set up has been about 6000-6500 lbs. but the gears will be in a week or two. how much can i expect the gears to help while towing, normal driving, and for gas mileage? will there be any incress from stock for tow weight?

 

Ideally back to stock. And you will not be able to handle any extra weight with new gears.

Dude, you literally have no idea what you're in for. Those gears will completely transform your truck, period!! I don't even know how else to describe it. With 34's (at the time), I went from 3.55 to 4.10 and my fuel mileage went up a point or two consistently across the board; freeway, city, whatever. I didn't care about the mileage thought after seeing what a sheer joy it was to drive my truck. You get used to how it drives with those big tyres and you take it for granted...until you get the new ones. THen you realize what an idiot you were for not getting gears when you got the tires...at least was my experience.

 

thats what i am hoping for, from what i have seen you can go prity low with the O/D and the truck not be screaming. i have did a lot of searching on this just still not made up my mind.

 

On the 5th wheel deal, do yourself a favor and measure the trailer from the pivot point to the front of the trailer and see how much room you have with a bed mount pivot point to cab distance.
That will be educational especially when you try to make turn and the 5th wheel hits the cab. You only have a 6' bed.

Try a 5.5' box, Bluegrass, not 6'. That's even too short with a slider hitch.
