Maybe I'm late to the game about this, but I ran across it this morning and it will give you guys another excuse to get out and mess with your truck.

Rust can eat away anything. What if it eats the cab mounts and you get into a head on collision sending the cab tearing and flipping off the frame? I dont live where there is rust so I wouldnt know what it's like to have to deal with that. But I see many of the guys on here that deal with it. Terrible

One of my straps broke.

I used to live in Pittsburgh. At the slightest flurry they would dump ridiculous amounts of salt on the roads. Couple this with some good snow fall and me parking my non-undercoated truck in a heated garage at night, you can imagine what the underneath of my truck looks like now, a complete mess.

I wish I had gotten the truck undercoated when I bought it new, but too late now.

Would be nice if Ford replaced them under a TSB. However after what the truck was subjected to, I can understand why they rusted apart, much like the rest of whats under my truck, I take responsibility for it.

On the bright side, they look like a very simple replacement, provided I can get the one bolt off, if Ford doenst replace it.

I spoke to Ford Canada today and they said there is no recall or even a TSB for this issue at this time. They did say that if there is a recall and you have already paid to have this issue fixed you take your receipts to a Ford dealer, they inspect the repair to certify it was done properly, they then send copies of your receipts to Ford for reimbursement.

Ouch

The straps broke on my '99 4.2 the other day. Tank dropped, got punctured, leaked out everything (I just filled up that morning), and damaged both the pressure sensor and the filler neck. $1100 for new tank, straps, sensor, and neck plus labor, with only the hope of recovering some of that if and when there's a recall.

If you can DIY -- DO IT NOW!!!
