Leveling a 2002 Ford F-150 supercrew

i just bought a 2002 f150 supercrew and i want to level it. i have heard of just tightening the torsion bars but does that hurt the ride?

Increasing the preload on the torsion bars will make the initial portion of the front suspension's travel slightly stiffer. Some love this, some hate it. Just crank up the prload enough to level the truck. On some trucks you can crank them up enough that the suspension is almost completely extended. This will destroy ride quality and leave the ball joints and CV joints at too severe of an angle to last. So, just don't go too far. Also, get an alignment when you get them adjusted where you want them.

Let's also clarify, Is your truck 4wd? 4wd's use torsion bars but 2wd's use coil springs.
