Possible F-150 purchase

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I logged on and posted up, and am considering another purchase to get back into the F-150 world. A local customer of my shop is looking to sell his older truck, and I could use a winter 4x4 as a project.

Here's the lowdown

98 regular cab flareside, 4x4 (manual transfer case, auto trans) 260,000 kms, XL trim, air, cruise, tilt, no other power options, 4.6L V8,

Some rust along the bottom of the doors only, but no dings at all. Bumpers will need to be replaced unless I can get some of the rust off, motor is a little loud when it's cold....I think it's an exhaust leak. Owner is willing to replace the windshield as well. Rides really good otherwise. Well taken care of maintenance-wise.

He is asking $3k. I am offering $2500. What do you guys think?

Comments? Questions?

i'd say that is a good price. i sold a 97 4x4 f150 single cab 4.2v xl with 180,000 miles for 2,500 so comparing to that it seems to be a good deal. i'd get it

Looks like a nice truck. That 4.6 will run forever.

Truck looks great and I would put the value around 2500. I have the 4.6 v8 in my 2000 reg cab and it runs great at 106,000 miles so Svets96 is absolutely right. I love the flaresides and if you just plan on using it as a winter truck I guess the rust wouldn't be such an issue. Not that I can talk about rust, it's not an issue down in west Texas. I would say go for it.
