Wheel stud replacement

So after riding some
Very rough old roads on a recent roadtrip, some of my lugs nuts on my rear axle Cale loose am one of the studs sheared right off. So it's time replace it. Do I need to remove the halfshaft? There's not much stud left at all. And I really don't want to remove the shaft and replace the fluid, seeing as I just changed it last month. The truck is a 2000 model manufactured late 1999 with rear discs

Not sure about the rear, but I replaced the fronts on my 98 with no issues. The front actually had a notched area to allow knocking the studs out and installing the new ones. Take a look and see if the rear has a notch to clear the base.

^^^^ this is what i would expect... i havent done it on one of these trucks but i did a windstar mini van, and it was as simple as drive out the old, shove the new one in as best i could with a pry bar, and then use a spacer and lug nut to pull it all of the way down.

That's what I'm hoping to
Encounter. And correct me If I'm wrong but I believe they are 12mm studs

Early are definitely 12, later 14. Found out for sure when I tried to use teh extra set of McGuards from my 98 on my Expedition.

Well after a lot of procrastination in doing this, I'm selling the truck on Thursday and was gonna get this done tomorrow. I just climbed under the truck to take a look and it looks like I'm going to have to either remove the axle or to whole brake assembly? I have rear discs. Any input is appreciated!
