Cheapest way to fix it is find a good used engine in the boneyard. However, are you SURE it's a rod knock?

I would guess plug as well. If it just started out of nowhere like that..
At least worth looking in that direction.

Seems odd to me. But if you say it's rod knock.. then maybe it is. You sure you didn't lose oil pressure?
A bad rod or main bearing or wrist pin doesnt just go bad over night. Unless it suffered from hydrolock and it bent a rod.
Have you pin pointed with a mechanics stethoscope where the knock is coming from?
Is it possible to get a video clip with sound?

Swap in a low mileage engine. Sell that one as a core or build it for a future project. I found mine on craigslist with only 10k miles, with the tranny and rest of the truck for 1400. Keep your eyes open and maybe a good deal will come by. Jbrew knows of a good place that searches the nearest place to you with used engine, I forget the site though. Look, heres a 4.6 (05 though) in my local craigslist right now..

Check for an engine here as well - http://www.car-part.com/

Type in your zip and their search will start closest to your area and work out.

My head and eyes hurt from trying to read your posts Expy90... I understand it's all that "texting" way of typing, but I'm an old fart and trying to comprehend something with zero punctation and texting spelling just drives me crazy...

Sorry, it has nothing to do with your problem and I'm glad that someone is 'salein' you a whole truck...

Mitch
