Why Ford?
Mines an 03 its a 4.2 with a 5 speed. The truck has been absolutely great. I bought it 4 years ago with 78k miles on it. It has 160k now. I dont toe with it regularly but I drive the living **** out of it. I use it for work which requires multiple trips to out of town cities. The towing capabilities of the truck is fine. Honestly, I think Ford marks the towing capacity low because they do not want to insure the clutch from drivers that do not know how to drive a manual. Growing up my friends mother had a 97 5 speed and she towed a large camper with it regularly no problems. It wasnt the fastest thing in the world but it got the job done. Chevy sucks! Cracked heads, clogged cats. Ford all the way
I have a 98 with the 5.4 and auto. It has over 188k on it and runs great. Just changed the rear shocks, they were the original shocks and were not leaking. Not bad for Motorcraft. I also tow a 6500# Travel Trailer with is too, gas milage not real good but she can tow.
i love and drive fords because that is what i was raised on. I tell you what though, i used to work for my uncle farming and i would use his 2000 chevy (5.3 i believe, Whatever the big half ton motor was at the time) and honestly the only thing good i could say about that truck was that the seats were pretty nice, but not nice enough to make me want one. The damn thing felt like i was driving a big ol car, and im sorry a truck shouldn't feel like that. Compared to my dads 5.4 that chevy was a DOG with a load on it.
right now im driving a pre 7-96 97 f150 with the 4.6 and 179k on the clock, this truck is rusty, the paint is all scratched up and the back window leaks (thats on my too do list for this summer) but i know that i can hook this ol girl to any trailer that i have access too, with any load on it, and she will move it, maybe not well, but she'll do it, and then drive me back 100 miles to school. I am not particularly kind to this truck,i mean hell, i pull a 7000 lb tractor with it several times during the summer (always slow and on back roads, and never more than 20 miles) but it doesnt burn oil, and fires right up every time.

Well I bought a Ford because runs in my family but I've came to love Fords because of my experience with them. My current truck is a 04 heritage 4.2L automatic. It has 122,000 miles on the clock and the only maintenance Ive had to do as far as maintenance is regular oil changes, battery change, air filters, fuel filters and driver side wheel bearings and tires of course. Thats pretty good and this thing still runs like new and gets pretty good gas mileage.
If I had to get another truck you know it would be a Ford.

Ford builds a good cab (quiet and no squeaks). Their stock motors don't win races but they put out a good torque curve. And in the 70's and 80's you could own one for more than 3 years without it rusting out, unlike chevy.
