What year did the intake manifold bolt patterns change for the f150 5.4l engine?

I am asking because I ordered an intake off of a 1999 f150 5.4l and my mechanic told me the bolt patterns were different than my 02-03 f150 5.4l

 

The only difference were the 97 and 98 as they were non PI intake manifolds and do not fit on 99-03 without adapter plates. The 99 was the first year of the PI head and intake for the F150 and the only year for the 5.4L to receive the aluminum/metal PI intake. Which some prefer, to avoid the cracking leaking issues on some of the composite intakes from 00-02 I think before they fixed them. But the 99 will fit on the 02 or 03 with no issues as far as I know. I am running my old 99 intake on my replacement motor (00) and as far as I know, nothing changed after that other than they revised them so they didn't leak.

 

is there a way to find out if the intake manifold they sent me was NON pi or not

 

The ports are different.
If there mostly round ports, it's non PI.
PI has bigger outta shape square ports.

 

I have a 2000 composite manifold I will sell you instead of paying for a new one...will for sure fit your 2002

 

Thanks for the offer but I found out this information after the mechanic bought and put on a new one with out calling me(He may have called my dad but I was not informed, cause then I would have just bought the adapter plates)
