Dang, your a little far from me. Just remember, to do the bumper swap you have to swap to a 97-98 grille as well.

I'm not really a big fan of the 97-98 4x4 bumpers. I think the 99-03 fx4 bumpers look alot cleaner.

for me, it all depends on the rest of the truck. my dad has a reg cab long bed fx4 and i just dont really care for it. i like my 97 much better. but give me a reg cab short bed 4x4 and i dont care which front end it is, i like them both equally on that set up.

I will say though, there are a couple reasons i like the 97-98 4x4 bumper better. one is that they were only made for two years, so they are kinda rare and i like the extra chrome and the fact that the fog lights are actually set into the metal and not the lower plastic.

But this is just my opinion and what i like. This is why we can buy whatever we want and do these trucks up like we like em

Exactly! One good thing with the 97-98's is that it provides more support for the front end if ever in a wreck or hitting something. But I do love the way they look on a single cab longbed.

you sir are correct... i hit some ice this christmas and spun out and hit a guard rail thankfully my lift and 35s saved me from totalling the truck. i broke a rear axle and bent the frame in the front and slightly bent the rear fender after i had it all fixed the guy who did it said a 99-03 in the same wreck woulda had to have all new valence fog lights and possible a bumper but because the vallence is small on the 97-08 and the fog lights are set into the bumper nothing happened one tow hook bent and it bent that side of the frame on the front tip but thats it and that is the only part of the truck i havnt had fixed because i dont want it to be heated to get fixed cause heat will weaken it... anyways thats my .02 but i am swapping to a 99-03 bumper when i put my light bar on b/c i dont wana drill into the stock bumper because they are not as common as the 99-03 so my 97 bumper will be put in storage.. id sell it to or trade but i keep all my parts i swap out. i still have all the original rims suspension parts and everything ive done to it the only thing i dont have is the stock manifolds catylic converters mufflers and piping. at any time i could take my truck back to stock or close to stock

Ya, for a long time I liked the smooth line of the 99 and ups, but after time the 97 98 bumpers have started to grow on me, kinda like all the curves. Could be that Ive owned the truck for 12 yrs now and just looking for a change, lol. She is getting ready to get a major make over. It has been too nice not having a truck payment for so long now. Plus its been a really good truck to me, and even after all these years, i can still look back at it and think to myself "I still like it".
