Blown Speedometer

Ok I have a problem and I know one of yall out there knows the answer. So here it is... About a day or so ago my speedo decided to twitch once or twice on me and now its gone almost completely. It will still jump when i first accelerate but immediately drop back to zero. My truck is a 2000 f150 xlt 4x4 single cab w/t a 5.4L, 4r70w tranny, 3.55 limited slip rear end. Anything yall could tell me would be great. Thank you in avance.

Could be the vehicle speed sensor. The one on mine is plugged into the tranny, but i know on some trucks it's in the rear end.

Mine is a 4r70w, but i think they changed it in 99 or 2000. You might want to ask someone in the tranny section to be sure.

I think the sensor in the rear end is just an ABS sensor, no speed.

I meant they changed the location of the vss, not the transmission. but it could very well be the same. It's a very simple task to do but is kind of hard to describe without having pics or a diagram. When i needed my speedo recalibrated I took it to my mechanic and he just changed the gear in the vss. If I knew how easy it would have been and how to do the calculation to find what gear to get I could have done it myself. It literally took him 5 minutes to swap it out.
