replacing door lock actuators

replacing door lock actuators

Anyone have a how to or done this before? I can not figure out how to get it off. so an help Is helpful..

if its anything like my 96 f150, they were rivited to the door, had to drill it out

yeah its rivited to the door either drill it out or take a chisel and knock it off... the cheapest way to do a door lock actuator is to go get them from a junk yard. yes you are taking a risk to whether they work good or not but they are all the same connector end and for mine i got them out of an expedition and just swapped the rods over from my stock ones and made them work. cost me about 10 bucks for both.

where is the rivit at? i Did not see much when i took my panel off.. then again i took a quick look.

i guess this thread was just enough to finally push me to do it. fixed my locks with the foil trick

It is easy enough to replace but don't ask how. A bunch of rods snap into place and some bullishness and it will come out. You'll figure it out.

take the whole latch/actuator assembly out as one. not gonna lie it was a huge PITA but it is so worth it. i took off the outer door handle and pulled it out from there. a couple pages into the thread f150man posted someone links to a thread that describes it
