Buying a F150
Buying a F150
I am going to look today and found the following 2, any suggestions? I will be doing zero-little towing ever.
01 with a 5.4L Larait, 150K miles for $8500, rust starting on the bottom of both back doors, Super Crew
01 with a 4.6L, 114K miles, $10000 SuperCrew, very clean
I would just go with the clean one but part of me wants the 5.4L, but do I really need it?

Take it from me, if theres rust starting, get away from it. My truck cab has a fist-sized hole from rust eating out the metal. Look in my photo album.
Look and see if the other truck has ever lived in salty conditions. If so, stay away from it IMO.

I sold my 02 lariat 4x4 supercrew 2 years ago for $9000...and it was superclean with 130000 miles

I would by that 4.6L red one all day long. looks like its in good shape for what it is and as a personal preference for me, I cant stand the front bench seat, center console all the way, lol.
That white one looks horrendous on the inside, plus it has rust. stay away....

Go with the 4.6 since it's in a lot better shape. Or you could wait and keep a look out for a decent truck with a 5.4.
Either way after you get one get off of this forum IMMEDIATLEY! You'll be broke otherwise.

4.6 is a great engine, you definitely want a clean truck with no rust.
Think of rust as skin cancer, it will keep spreading no matter what you try to do to fix it.
and FYI i moved this to the appropriate 97-03 section
