Post new2site info on OBD codes

I recently acquired a 1998 F150 XLT 5.4. Check Engine light came on and it turned out to be P0171 and 0174 error codes. Both manifolds have recently been replaced. Took it for inspection (NJ State ) secondary emission tests were performed they all passed. Vehicle failed because of codes. Any advise on what these codes mean? Thanks.

This may help..
https://www.f150online.com/forums/19...ric-codes.html

Search "p0171" or "p0174" and you will find a ton of information. Hopefully something specific to your issue.

You may need to clean your egr valve and throttle body (egr ports).. it is most common, along with the DPFE sensor

^^ yep.

And - for future reference - list of codes: https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...-dtc-list.html

You can also plug any code into Google or this site's search engine - lots of hits.

Most common cause for those on your truck is the PCV elbow at the back of the intake.
