throttle body sticking
throttle body sticking
anyone else have a problem with there TB sticking? Mine does it primarily when its cold, but the initial touch of the pedal sticks. I tried cleaning it real well with carb clean and a rag.
I'm tempted to just buy an aftermarket one.

Have you disconnected the throttle cable to see which is sticking and do the fix for it?
Throttle body sticking is somewhat rare unless the stop has been tampered with..
One way they can stick is if some one adjusted the stop allowing it to close too far.
It needs to be open a sleight amount as part of the calibration for the IAC to work correctly.
This is why the idle is said not to be adjustable. ( It really is not because it is set by computer program)
If the throttle plate is allowed to fully close, a hot engine expands the body diameter allowing the plate to close even more.
When the body cools it gets smaller in diameter and binds the throttle plate fast such that it won't move until the engine heat expands the body again.
If you have cold start and any idle issues, it is some problem with the IAC and or throttle body assuming there are no other air leaks elsewhere.
The IAC needs to be free to control air bypass around the throttle plate by computer control.
The throttle plate needs to be clean of buildup to allow air to pass as controlled by the stop setting. There is a spec for this.
Some people still think idle is set by adjusting the stop. Not so.
Good luck.

Yea I didn't take mine off, I was in a hurry when I was changing the oil after work one day. I'm going to take it all apart and clean it with the sand paper wheel I port intake/heads with at the shop.
It has a random start up issue which I believe is the FPR leaking down. I will check the stop though, I've never touched it but maybe it's always been off.. It's definitely the TB sticking, not the cable.
