Is my Therostat bad?

I have a 1997 F150. How would I know if my thermostat is bad? My heat comes out luke warm and never gets hot. I do not have any over heating issues "at all"

Feel the in and the out hoses by your heater, if both are hot, you probably have a blend door problem. If one is hot and the other is just warm, you might have a clogged heater core. Tracka96

There is a hose on the top running to my thermostat....
There is a hose running fro the bottom of my radiator....
There is a hose running from my coolant box....

Where are the hoses I need to check (heater located) ? Should they be hot or cold or warm?

I don't know what he's referring to either lol. I would guess the heater core hoses on the firewall.

If the temp gauge shows a little lower and or you get a check engine light, t-stat is failed. Otherwise it's what these guys said, never had any other issues except when the blend door failed, there was no heat at all.

ok, I felt all the hoses after a run and they are all hot. My check engine light is on. Its been on for about 9 months and the guy at Pepboys said it was my EGR stuck so it makes me wonder. I do have a little heat which is very warm. It is enough to defrost my windshield when we had a thick frost.

The hoses I felt are by the fire wall on the top on the passenger side. Is this where they are?

my check engine light has been on for about 9 months. The guy said it was my EGR valve stuck due to bad gas. This has nothing to do with my issue at hand LOL

Turn on your AC and see if you get good cold air out of it. If you still get slightly warm air, you know that your blend door didn't work. Do a search on blend door and maybe get some ideas. The blend door controls how much heat and how much cold air mix together to give you the correct air temp in the truck. (and if you need a mechanic, don't go to pep boys)

My AC broke last year and I have not fixed it yet. Again, I took it to Pepboys and they said it was broke and it would cost $1000 so I have not repaired it yet but it did blow out warm air (of course)

So turn on Max AC anyhow, if the air that blows out is still the exact same temp as with the heater on, I would think that the blend door didn't move to block the heater airflow. But maybe I'm wrong. Search blend door and find out how to test it for operating. And don't let pep boys work on your truck.
