I got a Viper Alarm/ Remote start, I took it out of the box and there is a bunch of wires, I was scared to mess with anything. The Best Buy wanted 300+ to install, I really dont want to pay that much for install. Is there anyone that has installed an alarm/ remote start in there truck? How hard is it?

It's really not hard to do. I can talk you through it. Go to bulldog security's website and pull the vehicle wiring diagram for your truck. I'll put a list together of what wire from the alarm to the truck. You will need to know how to use a multiple meter.

 

It's not that hard just time consuming and patience and multi meter I installed a viper 7900 color 2 way I'm just having a hard time with the bypass but that will be fixed this weekend

 

ok thanks guys. The guy at best buy said that i might have to buy some special bypass thing for $50, it has to do with something with a chip in the key? I dont think mine has it, but idk for sure.

 

Your truck doesn't have the chip. I think they started those in 99

 

How thick is the head on the key? Easy way to tell is to have a copy made at walmart or somewhere that does not have the black head and try to start the truck. If it starts with the new key you don't need a bypass.

 

ya thats what i thought cuz my 99 mustang had a thicker key, but the geek squad insisted that he was right. Thanks for the help guys
