02 Front tire wear

Have an 02 F-150 4 wheel drive that I put new itres and shocks on 10,000 miles ago. Had the front end aligned yesterday and the mech said the front tires where fethering and it needed new shocks. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Thanks

Vern

Could be shocks. How long have they been on the vehicle? If they are OE, you are long overdue for shocks. Long overdue.

Guaranteed they are shot. Shocks like many other items are wear items. They wear out. I normally do not go past 30k on OE shocks. Unfortunately, as stiff as the truck suspensions are, they really do not show a lot of the symptoms of bad shocks like cars do. However when you change them you will be very pleasantly surprised on how much better the vehicle rides and handles.
If on a budget, I would look at Monroe Magnums or Gabriels. If not on a budget, look at Bilstein or Rancho.

Shocks only have 10,000 miles on them, replaced them when I replaced the tires.

Then it may have been the alignment itself. But you may need to check other components, such as ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.

Is it just on the inside shoulder of the front tires? If so I would say your camber is off, and unless you have adjusters installed it cant be fully aligned correctly. look at the front of your truck from a distance and if it looks like this /-\ its off.

Maybe not particularly helpful, but you should have had the alignment and the rest of the front end checked when you replaced the tires and shocks. At this point, all you can do is get everything checked and rotate the tires. If the new shocks are in fact bad, what's the warranty on them?
