Exhaust help

Hello new member here but been coming to this site quite a while had a question just bought a 97 supercab lariet for 2500 bucks runs and drives great but the guy who had it before cut the exhaust off just after the cat not to loud but kinda annoyingbut the question is is the short exhaust harmful to the truck and is it killing my power

yes, your prolly loosing some bottom end of torque . Especially if you are going to put a load in the bed or pull a trailer with it of any kind. Mechanically specking in the engine, over extended period of time, perhaps yes, it could affect some O2 sensors...maybe the valves might get crispy.

It is more likely that you maybe getting exhaust gases inside the cab...(presuming that the exhaust is dumped as you described, "just after the cat"). This is most dangerous to your health and anybody that rides along.

Not to mention the drone/re-verb that is getting placed in cab as you run down the road at highway speeds...this would be annoying.

It also depends if you have annual vehicle inspections in your area too. In all likely hood it won't pass that as it is.

My Magnaflow Cat-back dual exhaust was only 450.00 installed. Welcome to F150Online
