dead from box cop?
dead from box cop?
Well I just finished (on my 01 5.4) new cop's from Uneek, Motorcraft sp-479 plugs, dielectric grease, cleaned the coil wire at plug connection, started it up and the is a constant miss, dead cylinder. Probably a bad new cop??
I was going to disconnect cop's 1 at a time but wanted to ask if there was any "uncomfortable" voltage at the top connection of the cop. I'm thinking the voltage is from the cop down to the plug but thought I would ask first.
Sure was easier with the old plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, points, & condenser.
Everyone have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year!

Why is allot people ordering from Uneek ? There's been allot problems with their hardware lately. Global is the top seller here, their problem is customer service , but at-least you get good coils for the most part.
Drive the truck until you get a CEL. You should have a CEL now if that cylinder isn't firing.

Check the cop first, whatever cylinder the misfire came up, sometimes if its a hard one to get to or install like one in the back.. they can jamb up going in the plug cylinder and not seat properly.
Thanks, I know some didn't feel right going in. I thought they should have had a better "feeling" as they should slip on the plugs. The temperatures here in Bend now tend to make rubber pretty stiff. The connectors on a Mitsubushi we had awhile ago were ceramic or a plastic & they went into their pockets & on the plugs no problem.
That's why you grease the plug ceramics (ideal) and the boots. Boots must greased correctly or that may work against yuh. Once that is done, you install by twisting the coil down onto the plugs ceramics. You really need that grease to assist, otherwise, new boots may bind and most likely, will not fully seat.
