Quick ?

Alright i know everyone hates talking about torsion keys but i was reading a thread that stated a safe ride height from the middle of wheel to bottom of fender trim after cranking the keys. Meaning minimal wear on ball joints. For the life of me i just cant seem to find it again, i was wondering if anyone knows/remembers if it was 22.5 inches or 24.5. Reason is i went and checked my height and it was 24 inches and i dont know if im within the "safe" zone or way passed it. Thanks!

That measurement that you are describing would be totally dependent on the tire size when you measure. A taller tire would read a smaller number, vise versa. Typically if it is just the stock torsion bar keys you can't really lift the front end an unsafe amount.

It's the aftermarket torsion keys that everyone complains about, although mine are doing just fine

Like they said, tire size is a big varible. Also, I don't recall anyone trying to come up with a "safe" measurement. Most of us just "eyeball" the CV and ball joint angles.

Center of wheel to bottom of fender trim should not vary with a different tire or rim size. The only thing that would change that measurement would be change in load on the suspension or a change in the suspension angle itself from adjusting the torsion bar/keys (on our truck) But like Wandell said, most can just visually tell how the angle of the cv looks whether it is over cranked or not. On stock keys, from what most would say, not everyone, but most, you can basically crank them 75-100% up without any issues. I have mine up about 75% in which I think I gained about 1 1/2" and my cv angles look all but level, cant even tell really.

Ok thanks guys. Big thanks to toyz for understanding that tire size doesn't matter in the situation i was explaining. I guess ill just be content with the 24" been working good for awhile now. Maybe i remember that key word i used for searching that day and find the thread again....
