Front end vibration problem

I have a front-end vibration that I also feel in the steering wheel. Tires were shot, so I had them replaced. Vibration is a little better with the new tires, but still there. Vibration starts at 45 mph and gets a little worse as speed increases. When I let off the gas, but don't touch the brake, I also hear a deep "noise" that pulsates a couple of times before it goes away.

98 4x4 with 170,000 miles. Brand new tires. Lower ball joints replaced 10,000 miles ago.

Any ideas what is going on?

Thank you!

When was the last time you got an alignment? I would get it up in the air and check things out. Pitman arm, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, brakes etc...Should be able to find it.

bad news - i'm told it needs u joints and the rear end rebuilt. 2 side races, 2 side bearings, 2 axle bearings, 2 axle seals, ring and pinion set, cluthes, fluids. $2740. I'm seriously considering telling them to put it back together twithout doing anything and then getting rid of it.

Agree with jake on that one the rear end should not cause vibrations in the front end. Unless you just thought it was in the front?
