Burning Rubber Smell
Burning Rubber Smell
I have a 2001 F150 4.6 XLT and recently i have noticed a burning rubber smell coming from the engine compartment. But looks like the lower half I cannot see from above. I have been doing longer rides lately and noticed it has been getting more noticeable. Does anybody have any idea what it could be?
Thanks

Coolant levels are fine and i just replaced the serpentine belt about 3000 miles ago
I'm assuming the best way to check that would be to take off the front tires and hit the brakes to see if they are releasing?
to fix it if they are locked..would be just to take off the brake pads bleed the lines some and hook everything back up?

Just checked it out brake pads are not rubbing at all
So you said the brakes werent rubbing, but next time you smell it and hit a stop sign or stop light, check the wheels for any smoking. I started smelling that burning smell and when I looked at my drivers side front there was smoke pouring out. I guess the caliper just got stuck for a bit. Its good now.
The repair for the cruise control was done. I also checked yesterday after driving and it is definitely not the rotors. I am thinking that my valve cover might be leaking so i have to wait till this weekend to check it out.
