97 in the mud

I just wanted to ask a couple questions about the 97's. With the IFS, im pllanning to get a 6 inch lift and all that in order to fit 35" MT claws to be specific. But is the IFS crap in the mud? My friend who apparently knows everything offroad (just a bit of sarcasim lol) says that I will snap my front axle in mud. I just want to check with this topic befor I go ahead and put all these offroad modifcations on.
Thanks in advance

your friend is stupid lol, it's a ford, as long as you don't gun it through the mud you'll be fine. especially when you lift and MT claws are pretty good in the mud, a friend of mine has 35" claws on his f250 and he doesn't slip at all

youll be alright with 35"s on the front, unless its a chevrolet

unless you turn it real hard and floor it, then you might snap one..

As a general rule of thumb a solid front axle is better than IFS for off road except for high speed desert stuff since it can flex and doesn't act as much like a plow in the mud. However, if this is your DD and you are just going to play in the mud some times and aren't going bigger than 35s you should be fine with the IFS.

Well.. My truck is an 03 but as you can see....

Pretty sure you will do solid..

p.s. My truck does better than my buds ranger with 35s.. and other friends chevy with 38s... all mud trucks.. Only been stuck twice so far.. one time because I caked the tires so much with clay that they were straight balled (was trying to pull someone else out).. Also high centered because I was trying to go up a 3-4 rut in 2 wd slowly.

hah for sure. I know what you mean..

if you change your mind on tires though, I definately recommend these...

Hard not to fall in love with..

So far in mud, they are straight phenominal. In soft sand as long as you air down, amazing.. And snow, I will tell you in about 2 months after a few trips to the mountains
