Question New problem after working on truck

Ok guys, I installed my new MC O2 sensors today. It was frustrating and a pain in the butt, but I got them in.

Then I decided to go ahead and drain the coolant, and replace with the fresh Prestone I bought today.

I went and got some shorter bolts for my TB, as I was gonna remove the spacer. While I had the TB off, I cleaned it up a bit with TB cleaner. I did not have the whole thing off, just the front section. Well, I also cleaned the MAF too while I was waiting for the coolant to drain. I put the TB back together MINUS the TB spacer to find that my accelerater and cruise cables were in a slight bind and had the TB open partially. I messed around for over 30 minutes trying to get slack in the lines, moving the plate that holds the cables---but it as all to no avail. SO....I put the TB spacer BACK on. Connected all the hoses, reinstalled my Air intake with the clean MAF installed.

Then it was on to refilling the coolant. Closed the drain **** and started refilling. I got 2 gallons of the antifreeze and about 1/2-3/4 of a gallon of the distilled water. I'll keep a check on it over the next few days and keep it topped off.

Reconnected my negative battery cable and cranked my truck. Varoom..fired right up........BUT

I have a God awful shrill. Kinda like a supercharger one...but really high pitched and annoying. What could it be?? I'm 99% sure I connected back all the hoses and connectors.

It sounds like its coming from the TB, and goes away temporarily when you rev the engine. The gasket did break that goes from the Poweraid spacer to the other section of the lower TB. Do you think that could be causing the sound? Do I just need a new TB gasket??

Please help...that sound will drive me crazy!!---DirtySCREW

Hmm. Could very well be air forcing through the crack in the gasket causung a whistle. I would try replacing that before fooling with anything else. Start with what seems to be the only known problem first. Let us know how it works out.

Yea, if it didn't happen to me I'd have a hard time believing it. It defies logic! But this is my luck, I can't get rid of that TB spacer!--DirtySCREW

They should have the gasket at napa or any parts store. Yocould go online and check your local parts stores and see. I bet they will though.

The cables don't fit because he still has the the cable guides offset and repositioned for the spacer. The plate needs to be at factory position, which is 1" -1.5" back. The bolt holes are there, -maybe under the plate and you can't see them. Yea, that entire plate moves backwards, - take it loose and look under.

Always replace gaskets, but you can get away with re-using, - sometimes. It's just not a good idea of course.

Are you sure you don't have the spacer turned around? When their flipped, they make like a wimpy blower noise lol. I would just get rid of it, reset your cable guide plate back to the factory position.

I don't have a pic of the 03, - but here's an 01 5.4L, should be set the same (disregard the colored circle's, if possible) -

Jbrew--nah,....I don't have the spacer turned around. I have it exactly as it came off.

The red arrow is of course where the TB spacer is.
The blue arrow indicated the screws that hold the cable plate. I can't seem to get it to move anywhere without the cables getting into a bind and not having enough slack. I'm wondering if the previous owner replaced the cable. Any help is greatly appreciated---DirtySCREW

Iduno, look down under the dash at the cable and @ the go pedal. Make sure it's not choked up with zip ties or something. I've seen that before lol.

Thank God---my truck is fixed!!! I called about every parts store in my town and no one had the TB gasket in stock. I even called a Ford dealer who look at all the local dealerships around..they didn't have it either. Then I remembered Car Quest. I called them and got the last one. I came home, installed it...and now it purrs like a kitten!
I'm so happy, cause that noise was gonna cause me to check myself into a nuthouse!
Thanks for all the help guys...my truck is Ford tough once again!---DirtySCREW
